Interviu Metalhead Meeting Festival 2017: Pokerface

Infiintata in Moscova, in 2013, Pokerface livreaza un amestec energic de thrash si death metal condimentat cu growlurile solistei Alexandra "LadyOwl". Cel mai recent album al trupei, "Game on", a fost lansat in data de 31 martie. Pokerface a impartit scena cu formatii precum Death DTA, Megadeth si Kreator.

Pokerface va concerta pe scena festivalului METALHEAD Meeting 2017 duminica, 25 iunie.

METALHEAD: Hello and thank you for taking a little time to answer a few questions for our readers. Is this the first time you come to Romania?

LadyOwl (Vocal): Hello, everybody! For me this is actually 3d time.

Doctor (Drums):  Hi, folks! No, we were in Romania several times, in Bucharest, Brasov, Timisoara, Arad, and other.

METALHEAD: What kind of energy you expect from the Romanian public?

LadyOwl: I'm expecting crazy energy a lot 'cause all concerts in Romania were very impressive. A lot of passion metalheads out there.

Doctor: We had a few shows with amazing public last year, with mad metalheads, and we like to be a part of these gigs! And now we are looking forward to meet with Romanian insane brothers of metal with their wild energy and aggression!

METALHEAD: How would you describe your music to somebody who has never heard your band before?

Xen Ritter (Guitar): All kinds of thrash metal (depending on the album) - from raw, primal and uncontrollable to more grown-up, modern and complex. Whatever you like! And yes, our main feature is brutal, crazy female vocals.

METALHEAD: What is your favourite song to perform live?

LadyOwl: Hmm, I guess it's "Fatal Scythe", and "Bow! Run! Scream!", and maybe "Play Or Die".

Doctor: Wow! I realy realy, love the song "Into The Inferno" from album "Divide And Rule". It's very-very simple, but powerful! The best balance groove/thrash and this shit looks amazing on the stage, but unfortunately we stopped to present this stuff on public, and I'm sad.

Xen Ritter: "Under The Pentagram Sign" - the crowd becomes totally insane from the very first second!

mrGeneSimmons (bass): "Kingdom Of Hate" and "Play Or Die".

METALHEAD: What are the main elements that inspire your work?

Lady Owl: Passion. To everything. To sing, to create music, to perform. I can express all my feelings on the stage with help of our songs.

METALHEAD: What do you think is your biggest achievement as a band and what was the biggest problem that you had to overcome as a band?

Doctor: The main achievment and challenge - our status of european touring band from Russia, which can make insane show, great music, is very organized and responsible. And the main problem is the overside of that coin - it's really hard to play and stay as constant crew, because it's too difficult to have a lot of power, free time and oppportunities for touring, rehearsals and managment. It's sad, but we are changing members too often. It's sad.

mrGeneSimmons: Our biggest archievement is that within three years we grew up from local garage band to professional music group with well-established processes and we are not going to stop. The biggest problem that there are a lot of bands in the world trying to be famous and it's a big competition which takes a lot of time, money and mental strength.

METALHEAD: How do you feel about the internet in the music business and how important are live concerts for a band nowadays?

Doctor: The Internet is not something modern or only for geeks. It's our live and real channel of communications and information market. And it's very important to use this for PR, promo and to have feedback from your fans, you know. Even such old-style bands as Slayer, Motorhead, Kreator have SMM assistants for Internet promotion - in Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud, etc.

And, of course, nowadays we have a problem with gigs, shows, metalheads in front of stage, I'm talking about concert attendance - It was dropped down about 95%-99% from 90th. Nobody cares about live music or live performance. But on the other side - people miss for real, it's very usual and ordinary to watch Youtube or DVD-quality video on your monitor and good motivator to see something real and live. I believe live shows have about 20 years before VR kill it.

Xen Ritter: Internet helps as well as kills. Only major labels and big (really big) money can make another Metallica. Big money = thouthands of fans. But labels have lost huge incomes due to Internet. It's bullsh*t that there can't be new interesting music in 2017. There are brilliant bands with absolutely new ideas, but large masses of people will never hear their music. Will these people search in Internet for something new while they have Slayer and Kreator? I don't think so.

Live concerts for metal band is the best way to communicate with all these crazy fans of metal, to meet them face to face and knew something about each other. After all, we are doing all this sh*t only for them! If they are ready to buy some our stuff (CD or T-Shirt) after our show - we're on the right way. And you know, in 2017 live show is the best way for metal band to earn some money.

METALHEAD: Share with us your top five underrated bands that people should start listerning right now. :)

Doctor: Slayer, Machine head, Tiamat, Anathema and Pokerface!

Xen Ritter: Devin Townsend Project, Bloodbath, Death, Autumn Aurora and Dethklok :)

mrGeneSimmons: Beneath My Sins, Frantic Amber, Eisbrecher, Mortemia, Holy Moses

METALHEAD: What are you preparing for your show at Metalhead Meeting Festival (new songs, anything special related to your performance)?

mrGeneSimmons: For sure we will play the songs from our new album "Game On", and be prepared for an awesome performance with great energy!

METALHEAD: Thank you for answering, is there any message you want to send those who will come to see you perform at METALHEAD Meeting Festival?

Doctor: Thank you! Couple words for metalheads: Hey guys, I don't care about Internet or Youtube, I know you will arrive at Festival and spend a great time with friends, beer and awesome music, because it's rare opportunity to see something true and real. So have a nice trip and gig for everybody! See you everybody later on MHM Festival 2017! Stay Metal!
